Agroskillshub began as a simple idea shared between two passionate young men Peter Mataki and Opio Martin who first met in a university lecture room while pursuing their bachelor’s degrees in Agriculture. Bound by a shared vision for transforming agriculture through practical education, their journey soon grew into a mission that now inspires many across Uganda and beyond.
Both Peter and Martin were raised in farming communities, coming from humble backgrounds as sons of peasant farmers. Their early exposure to the challenges of traditional agriculture fueled their desire to make a difference. That passion took them across the globe—participating in prestigious agricultural exchange programs in countries such as Israel, Sweden, the USA, and more. These experiences deepened their expertise and shaped their global perspective.
With master’s degrees earned from internationally renowned universities under the mentorship of some of the world’s best agricultural professors, Peter and Martin returned home determined to give back. They co-founded Agroskillshub—a platform to empower young farmers and agriculture students through hands-on training, agrotourism, and global knowledge exchange.
"We started Agroskillshub because we know what it means to grow up in a farming family—with limited resources but big dreams. Our journey from small rural farms to international classrooms and agricultural fields across the world has taught us one powerful truth: practical knowledge can change lives.
Through Agroskillshub, we want to bridge the gap between theory and practice, between rural youth and global opportunities. This is more than a project for us—it's a calling. We are committed to creating spaces where young farmers and students can learn by doing, connect with others, and grow into leaders who will shape the future of agriculture in Africa."

Co-founders, Agroskillshub
We have recruited and linked aspiring and progressing farmers from Africa to flourishing local and international farms in Uganda, Europe, and North America for experiential learning and agro-tourism in various agricultural value chains.
Our former and current participants have had an opportunity to learn up to date practical skills and knowledge from experienced farmers and successfully applied them in their agribusinesses for gainful employment.
